1. Set up a source that contains a column with alphanumeric characters ![]() +

2. Drag and drop the Mask Embedded Dictionary Substitution masking component. Connect the source to the Mask Embedded Dictionary Substitution component using the source's precedence constraint. |
3. The precedence constraint (the blue arrow) now passes the appropriate metadata to the Mask Embedded Dictionary Substitution component. If you click on the constraint, you will see the metadata being passed: ![]() +

4. Open the component editor. ![]() +

5. In the Custom Dictionary property, click the three dots (...) to open the editor. You can either:

6. In the Input Columns tab, check only the columns you want to mask using the Mask Embedded Dictionary Substitution algorithm. ![]() +

7. The component will create an additional column with the prefix Masked_. You must specify the created dictionary in the Custom property for this new "MappedLibraryColumn" column. ![]() +

8. Create a Connection Manager for the destination. Configure the Source component for the destination.

9. Now, all the configurations are complete for the valid values. You can run the package with the Mask Embedded Dictionary Substitution component, and see the results of data masking in the Destination component. ![]() +
