City Names Dynamic
Purpose
This component masks city names by substituting them with real U.S. city names from a built-in list of about 700 options. The mapping is not necessarily one-to-one—multiple original names may be replaced with the same substitute—but the substitution is consistent across the dataset. This ensures referential integrity is preserved, meaning the same input city will always be replaced with the same output city within the masked result. This method supports HIPAA’s Safe Harbor guidelines by replacing protected geographic identifiers with realistic alternatives.
